God works all things for good

"And Joseph said to his brothers, 'Please come near to me.' So they came near. Then he said: 'I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt. But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.'“

Genesis 45:4-5

Reflect

In this passage, Joseph is speaking with his brothers—the brothers who betrayed him and sold him into slavery. They were anxious that Joseph might seek vengeance against them. Instead, Joseph was able to see God’s bigger plan at work. While he was not excusing what they did, he realized that God had used them for good. Joseph’s family was welcomed into Pharaoh’s land where they established themselves and prospered. This led to Israel (a family of 70) growing to a nation of nearly 2 million! God’s purposes are perfect. We may not fully understand God’s plan in the moment, especially when those moments are difficult and painful. However, like Joseph, we can trust that God’s sovereign plan will turn tragedy to triumph! God is able to use any circumstance for your good and His glory. On our hardest days, we can cling to this truth, and it can help us endure. Boldly proclaim that no matter what you are going through, God is using it for good!
